Skagit Valley Malting Showcase is part of a festival hosted by Farmstrong Brewing on Saturday April 7th!  The Farmstrong Festival is free and open to all and features 10 breweries serving craft beer showcasing Skagit Valley Malting grains, a Chili & Chowder Cook-off, a Wort Challenge and more!

The chili and chowder cook-off is from 1-4 with voting open and free to the public! $15 gets you six samples and a vote (a large portion of your favorite).

For the home brewers is the Wort Challenge.  Farmstrong makes the base wort using Skagit Valley Malting grain and gives it away to home brewers all morning.  The home brewers pick-up the wort in whatever vessel they bring and then go home and brew a beer of whatever style they choose.  5-6 weeks after the festival, Farmstrong holds a judging and declares a winner.  The winning home-brewer is then invited back to develop the recipe with the Farmstrong brew team for a full production brew.  The winning beer is then released at the Farmstrong Anniversary party in September.  Last year, Farmstrong gave away almost 15BBL’s of wort to more than 60 home brewers!
